Q: How long have you been photographing together?
We met over 10 years ago at Pratt Institute and began photographing together almost immediately. Throughout the years we continued to shoot together whenever the opportunity arouse. During a photo trip to Turkey’s Black Sea coast, we decided to combine our talents and open April + Galina Photography.
Q: How long have you been photographing weddings specifically?
We have been individually photographing weddings since 2005.
Q: How would you describe your photographic style?
What we love about shooting together is that we can bring our unique creative vision and talents to your event. We combine classic portraiture, contemporary photojournalism and editorial/lifestyle photography in our approach, creating beautifully lit, timeless images.
Q: Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Yes, we are comfortable working in all types of lighting conditions. We use available light, as well as a portable lighting kit, and on-camera flash.
Q: Do you always shoot together?
Our goal is to shoot together all of the time. And, we also work closely with a group of photographers who can assist as needed.
Q: Do you shoot film or digital?
We shoot the weddings in digital and offer portrait/engagement sessions in both digital or using wet collodion a process, introduced in the 1850’s, by Frederick Scott Archer. The process involves coating a metal plate with collodion and sensitizing it by dipping it into a bath of silver nitrate. The wet plate is next placed in the camera where a photograph is made. Within a few minutes of exposure the plate must be developed, fixed and dried in order to create the tintype.

Q: What are Hi-Res images and how will they be delivered?
Hi-Res images are large edited files most suitable for printing. We deliver these files via an archival DVD.
Q: How can I print my images? Can I have them printed at the local drug store?
Your wedding package will include a 90-day web gallery and you can choose images for printing directly from here. We work with top-notch printers who can help you get beautifully crafted prints of your special day. You can print them at a drugstore, but the quality of these prints cannot be guaranteed.
Q: What are RAW files and can we get those?
RAW files are the unedited digital negatives of your photographs. These files are specifically shot to allow as much tonal range in the images, they are flat and not color corrected. Professional editing software is required in order to be able to open RAW files, so we do not deliver the RAW files. Additionally, the files you receive are individually edited.
Q: Do you offer albums?
Yes! We love the printed image. We offer lay-flat high quality book albums.
